A man was slain Sunday outside his granddaughters’  baptism party—shot in his back after emerging from inside a Bronx church, officials said.

The shooting left Edgar Perez, 46, dying on the sidewalk outside the Church of the Holy Nativity on Bainbridge Avenue in Norwood shortly before 3:30 a.m., according to police.

Perez was rushed to Montefiore Medical Center, but doctors could not save him.

He was attending the post-baptism celebration of his two young granddaughters when he was shot.

The party was being held in the Church of the Holy Nativity’s basement-turned-banquet hall, authorities said.

The shooter had apparently been involved in an earlier dispute with a different celebrant attending the party, police said.

The gunman was turned away from the event and returned with a gun, officials said.

No arrests had been announced as of Monday.
