A man was shot in his chest in Morrisania Friday, marking the latest incident of firearm violence during a week that has seen double-digit gunshot victims in the Bronx, police said.

The latest shooting happened around 2:10 p.m. on East 166th Street near Union Avenue when a gunman stepped out a white BMW and opened fire, wounding the 25-year-old victim before driving off, according to the NYPD.

The victim was hospitalized and is expected to survive.

Friday’s gun blasts were part of a continuing trend in the borough; ten people were shot in the Bronx over a nine-hour span Wednesday and Thursday, marking one of the most violent periods here in years, authorities said.
