Police have arrested the man they say fatally shot a 36-year-old woman in her head last year – nineteen years after her mother died the same way, officials said.

Amere Bryant, 25, is accused of murdering Shaquana Button, of the Bronx, in front of a bodega on East 149th Street in Mott Haven on Jan. 15, 2018, according to the NYPD.

The two got into an argument inside the Candy & Grocery deli before the fight spilled outside, leading to the killing, police said.

Bryant, who is homeless, was captured in Nassau County Tuesday night. He is charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon, officials said. He was awaiting arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court Wednesday afternoon.

Button’s mother, Dianna Mitchell, was fatally shot in Brooklyn in 2000 at age 36 – the same age at which her daughter died. Her killer was never caught.
