A Bronx man was convicted by a federal jury Wednesday for his role in a large-scale drug conspiracy that trafficked dozens of kilograms of heroin and fentanyl into Massachusetts from the Bronx and Dominican Republic, prosecutors said.

Richard Rosario, 35, was found guilty of conspiring to distribute heroin and possessing heroin with intent to distribute the drug. Federal prosecutors said he routinely traveled to a heroin mill at 152 Lebanon Street in Springfield, Ma., where he helped package kilos of heroin for retail distribution.

Rosario carried out the work for a drug trafficking organization based in Springfield, and run by accused opiate kingpin Alberto Marte.

The Marte Organization had direct contact with heroin supply sources in the Dominican Republic, prosecutors said.

Every month, members of the organization transported between eight and 20 kilograms of heroin to the Springfield area from the Bronx — drugs that originated in the Dominican Republic, prosecutors said.

Marte and 11 others have pleaded guilty to crimes resulting from their roles in the organization, authorities said.

Rosario is scheduled to be sentenced June 29.
