Police shot and wounded a 27-year-old man they said was holding a gun on a Bronx subway platform early Wednesday morning, officials said.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert and 911 call about a man firing a gun in the 225th Street subway station in Wakefield shortly after midnight, according to the NYPD.

Two officers opened fire, with a single bullet wounding the man in his left shoulder, police said.

He was taken to a local hospital and expected to survive.
