Uninsured Americans seeking affordable health care can sign up for Obamacare policies starting Sunday.
Millions have been laid off or forced to leave their jobs amid the coronavirus pandemic, losing employer health insurance in the process. That means demand for Obamacare’s taxpayer-subsidized policies could soar in the weeks ahead, even as the Trump administration seeks the popular program’s repeal.
Open enrollment for Obamacare extends through Dec. 15, with premiums slightly lower this coming year.
“Affordable health coverage is more essential than ever during the pandemic,” said Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who is encouraging Americans to sign up for new policies, regardless of Trump’s efforts to end the program amid the pandemic.
