The death of a woman found dumped in a garbage can in Tremont last week has been ruled a strangulation, and the victim identified as a 38-year-old Manhattan resident, authorities said.
Becky Crown, who lived on the Upper West Side, was found partially nude with traumatic injuries, her corpse left inside a residential garbage can behind 4464 Park Ave., according to police.
The NYPD said they got a call about 8:30 a.m. on April 20 reporting an unconscious adult female. Officers arrived to find the then-unidentified woman dead, stripped of her pants and underwear, and discarded with residents’ trash.
The city medical examiner conducted an autopsy and ruled Crown’s death a homicide—the result of compression of her neck and chest, authorities said.
No arrests had been announced as of Tuesday morning. Anyone with information is asked to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
