A 20-year-old woman has died after being hit by an NYPD patrol car in the Bronx Monday, authorities said.
Sophia Gomez, who lived on Pelham Parkway near the site of the crash on Wallace Avenue, died Thursday night at Jacobi Hospital, according to police.
The crash happened about 3:30 p.m. as the department highway cruiser – it’s lights and sirens activated – responded to a call for officer assistance on the Throgs Neck Bridge, striking Gomez on its way to the scene.
No information about the driver’s identity, or other pertinent information about the incident, has been publicly released.
