A 52-year-old woman was shot and killed on City Island while working at her construction job Wednesday, authorities said

Lizbeth Mass, who worked as a construction site flagger, was shot multiple times around 12:30 p.m., according to the NYPD. The killing happened on City Island Avenue as Mass was taking her lunch break.

She was rushed to a local hospital but could not be saved.

The shooter, a 67-year-old man who knew Mass, was struck by a vehicle before he could get away—then taken into custody by police.

Charges against him were pending Thursday.
