Bronx residents must now cover their faces when in public under a new statewide rule issued by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

As of 8 p.m. Friday, all New Yorkers are required to wear a mask or some other type of face covering in public situations. Failing to do so will place them in violation of the executive order.

The mandate applies in any public location where social distancing is not necessarily possible—such as a store, the subway, or a street.

In addition to wearing a mask or face covering, New Yorkers should continue to remain at least six feet apart at all times while in public, state officials said.
