An apartment fire inside a Bronx NYCHA complex left a 5-year-old boy dead and his 38-year-old mother critically injured Monday, authorities said.
Two others were also hurt in the blaze, which broke out inside the family’s fifth floor unit at the Melrose Houses, on East 153rd Street, around 9:30 a.m.
Paramedics rushed the child to the hospital, but he could not be saved.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
