Less than two percent of Americans have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to Dr. Anthony Fauci, even as dangerous new variants spread across the country.

Speaking on CNN Tuesday, Fauci said 70 to 85 percent of the population would have to be fully vaccinated for a pre-pandemic sense of normalcy to return.

More than 32.7 million Americans have received at least one shot but just 6 million or so have received both, according to CDC data.

Amid a nationwide shortage of the drugs, Bronx residents continue to face difficulties in accessing coveted appointment slots for vaccinations.
