Man Plunges Through Collapsed Sidewalk in Belmont

A 33-year-old man was injured when a section of sidewalk collapsed beneath him in Belmont Saturday, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not made public, plunged 15 feet underground outside a store on Third Avenue between East 182nd and East 183rd Streets around 12:30 p.m., hitting his head along the way.

Firefighters pulled him back onto the street and rushed him to nearby St. Barnabas, where he is recovering.
