Outdoor learning is coming to a Bronx school near you.

New York City’s Department of Education has signed off on plans for hundreds of schools to conduct outdoor lessons in parks and other open-air spaces—part of the city’s strategy to keep students safe during the coronavirus pandemic.

Priority is being given to schools in communities where COVID-19 caused the most infections and deaths, including hard-hit parts of the Bronx.

This fall will mark the first time city public school students attend a bulk of their classes outside traditional classrooms and learning facilities.
