A recent survey shows Americans of color are paying more than double the amount of bank fees and surcharges paid by their white counterparts.

The Bankrate survey, released last month, shows Latinos are paying an average of $14 per month for checking during the pandemic, while Black people are paying $12 a month.

Whites, on the other hand, pay an average of $5 per month, according to the survey.

White respondents were also more likely than people of color to pay no monthly fees for checking accounts.
