Nearly 5,000 residents at the Bronx public housing complex spent Friday without any heat or hot water, on a day when temperatures in the borough were expected to dip into the 20s.
Gary Mallette, 51, whose criminal history includes more than 50 arrests and several completed prison terms for robbery, allegedly posed as a NYCHA repairman to get into the elderly victim’s apartment – then ripped her clothes off and beat her. She suffered numerous broken ribs and other injuries from being punched, police said.
