Thirteen-Year-Old Girl Shot in Soundview

A 13-year-old girl was shot in Soundview Wednesday when a gunman opened fire on a group of bystanders, authorities said.

The teenager was hanging out with a small group of friends on Seward Avenue when the shooter walked up and started shooting about 2:30 p.m., according to the NYPD.

He was not aiming for the victim, who is recovering at Jacobi Hospital and expected to be OK, police said.

No arrests have been announced in the case.
