A teenage girl was stabbed to death by her boyfriend inside a Bronx homeless shelter Wednesday, authorities said.
Enilies Calix, 19, was attacked by the 23-year-old as the couple argued around 1 p.m. in the HELP USA Bronx Morris community shelter on East 171st Street in Claremont, according to the NYPD. Calix suffered stab wounds to her neck and chest, police said. She died at the scene.
Her killer was still on the run late Wednesday, officials said. He lived at the shelter with Calix.
The homicide marked the latest incident of deadly violence at Bronx shelters.
A 45-year-old woman was found dead on the floor of a South Bronx homeless shelter in July, and detectives were investigating her death as suspicious at the time.
Aneida Vidal, a mother of three, was staying with her kids at the family shelter on East 138th Street, which is operated by BronxWorks, authorities said.
The borough’s homeless shelters serve thousands of New Yorkers, but many say they avoid them because of violence and substance abuse in the facilities.
