A 45-year-old woman was found dead on the floor of a South Bronx homeless shelter Thursday morning, and detectives are investigating her death as suspicious, police said.

The city Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death for Aneida Vidal, a mother of three who had no visible trauma to her person, authorities said.

She was staying with her kids at the family shelter on East 138th Street, which is operated by BronxWorks, authorities said.

The borough’s homeless shelters serve thousands of New Yorkers, but many say they avoid them because of violence and substance abuse in the facilities.
