Bronx Councilman Andy King was expelled from the City Council Monday following allegations he sexually harassed women and misused Council resources, authorities said.
The vote to oust King came after a third ethics investigation of his activities by the Council. In two prior probes, officials found King failed to pay a $15,000 fine implemented by the city, asked a staffer for kickback money, and sexually insulted a female staffer.
Immediately following the 48-2 vote, King filed a lawsuit in Manhattan federal court alleging unlawful treatment by the city, including racial discrimination.
A special election will be held for King’s vacant seat. The date has not been announced.
