A 66-year-old Asian man was punched in the face without provocation by an attacker in Morrisania Sunday, and police are investigating the assault as a possible hate crime.

The unidentified assailant approached from behind and socked the victim in his face—the latest in a wave of anti-Asian crimes reported in New York City amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The attacker got away, and the victim declined medical treatment.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
