Jobless Bronx residents will begin receiving enhanced unemployment benefits starting next week—a much needed lifeline in the borough hardest hit by COVID-19.

As part of the pandemic relief legislation signed last month by President Donald Trump, New Yorkers drawing unemployment benefits will receive an additional $300 a week, for 11 weeks, in their state checks.

Recipients will also get regular unemployment benefits for an additional 11 weeks, thanks to an extension in the legislation.

For details on the new benefits, check out the Department of Labor’s Tweets.
