Bronx Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson and District Attorney Darcel Clark led an anti-violence rally Monday in response to a recent surge in shootings and homicides in Claremont and Concourse.

The elected officials said they would join with cure violence groups and clergy to launch Operation Save Our Sons and Sisters (SOS), which aims to save lives in the wake of multiple recent killings of young men and women of color across the Bronx.

“As the number of homicides increase, families have been devastated and residents are terrified,” Gibson said in a written statement following the event. “We have seen far too many shootings in the past 30 days and it is time to take action.”

Gibson and Clark also announced a Peace Walk, a Youth Summit, and Occupy the Block events targeting areas plagued by gun violence.

Residents looking to get involved can reach Gibson’s office at 718-588-7500 or [email protected].
