Bronx public school students will be able to ride the bus to school this academic year, despite the havoc being wrought by COVID-19, city officials announced Wednesday

Bus service will be available for 100,000 students citywide on the first day of school, said Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Bus companies will cover 2,470 general education routes and 5,962 special education routes, ensuring “bus service will be available to all children who need it,” the mayor said.

A number of safety measures will be implemented on buses including open windows and mandatory social distancing, officials said.

Parents will receive more information about the busing program in the coming days, officials said.
