Mayor Bill de Blasio on Friday said parents should be prepared for schools to close as early as Monday, amid another rise in coronavirus infections.
The campus of PS 811X will remain closed for 24 hours in accordance with the city’s safety measures, authorities said.
Bus companies will cover 2,470 general education routes and 5,962 special education routes, ensuring “bus service will be available to all children who need it,” the mayor said.
Priority is being given to schools in communities where COVID-19 caused the most infections and deaths, including hard-hit parts of the Bronx.

Chris Mondal, a 30-year-old paraprofessional who taught at PS 46 for eight years, and David Behrbom, 47, who taught physical education at PS 55 for over 15 years, both succumbed to the disease this month.
The Bronx-based bookstore Boogie Down Books is partnering with Friends of Island Academy to promote the “Books to Jails” initiative: an effort get books into the hands of young people locked up at Horizon Juvenile Center in Mott Haven.
